Clarington rolls over Georgina, 6-1

The Clarington Eagles had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-1 win over the Georgina Ice.

Clarington was led by goalie CJ Sharp, who finished with 25 saves while allowing one goal. Sharp managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 1.95 prior to the game.

The Eagles kept Georgina's goalie busy throughout the game, and Tyler Richardson made 33 saves on 39 shots. Clarington found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Eagles average 3.8 goals per game.

Clarington was helped by Cody Kean, who registered two goals and one assist. Kean scored the first of his two goals at 9:15 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Clarington. Jake Choiniere picked up the assist. Kean's next tally made the score 5-1 Clarington with 5:24 left in the third period. A cross checking penalty on Jesse Johnston had put the Eagles on the power play. Brad Down assisted on the tally. Clarington additionally got points from Jarod Holister, who also grabbed one goal and two assists and Down, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Clarington included Chris Turner and Blane Gaudon, who each put in one. More assists for Clarington came via Morisette APM Mack, Dylan Howorko, and Rory Craddock, who each chipped in one.

The Ice were often in penalty trouble, totaling eight minors and one major for 31 minutes in penalty time. Georgina surpassed its season average of 24.0 penalty minutes per game.

Clarington totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major and went 4-for-10 on the power play. For the Eagles, Craddock was ejected from the game. The Ice registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Georgina ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Kyle Bricknell was ejected from the game.
