Huge game by Walsh boosts Lakefield over Uxbridge, 6-3Lakefield-Smith CC Tue, Dec 03, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Jordan Walsh had one goal and two assists to lead the Lakefield Chiefs to a 6-3 victory over the Uxbridge Bruins. Walsh scored on the power play 19:12 into the second period to make the score 4-1 Lakefield. Uxbridge had gotten the advantage when Lakefield's Dalton Hill was sent off for boarding. Carter Vahey provided the assist.In the losing effort, the Bruins were paced by Korey Brand, who tallied two goals. Brand scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 10:19 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Lakefield. Vahey assisted on the tally. Brand's next tally on the power play made the score 4-2 Lakefield with 15:26 left in the third period. Tim Bierema provided the assist. The Chiefs' offense rang up 39 shots on Uxbridge's net. Lakefield also got points from Gregory Jesse, who also racked up one goal and two assists, Eric Oosting, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Nathan Larson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Lakefield included Travis Brault and Derek Manley, who scored one goal each. In addition, Lakefield received assists from Devin Gilbert and Ryan Saunders, who contributed two a piece. The Bruins stifled Lakefield's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Chiefs were unable to stop Uxbridge from sending pucks towards the net, and the Bruins eventually piled up 34 shots on goal. Uxbridge additionally got points from Bierema, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. More assists for Uxbridge came via Marco Mastrangelo and Thomas Sheedy, who each chipped in one. Lakefield's Zach Wainman stopped 31 shots out of the 34 that he faced. The Chiefs totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-3 on the power play. Lakefield ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Eric Shewell was ejected from the game. Cody Northover made 33 saves for Uxbridge on 39 shots. The Bruins totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. For Uxbridge, Mastrangelo was ejected from the game.
