Little Britain falls apart in second, loses to Uxbridge, 6-0

The Uxbridge Bruins used a three-goal second period to put away the Little Britain Merchants, 6-0.

Tim Bierema had a great game for Uxbridge, netting two goals. Bierema found the back of the net 7:26 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Uxbridge and again while on the power play 15:14 into the third to make the score 6-0 Uxbridge.

Little Britain's power play was ineffective against the Bruins' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Uxbridge racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 16 minors and one major for 67 minutes in penalty time. The Bruins surpassed its season average of 25.0 penalty minutes per game. Uxbridge stifled the Merchants' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Bruins' goal total was higher than their season average. This season, Uxbridge averages 3.8 goals per contest.

Uxbridge additionally got points from Carter Vahey, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Dylan Locke, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Uxbridge also got a goal from Connor Beck as well. Other players who recorded assists for Uxbridge were Matt Pollard APM, who had two and Jason Simmonds, Justin Dube, Owen Scuralli APM, Marco Mastrangelo, and Jeremy Toupin APM, who contributed one a piece.

Little Britain forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 15 minors and one major for 75 minutes in penalty time. The Merchants had been averaging 31.0 minutes in penalties per game. Little Britain did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Merchants put an average of 3.1 pucks into the net per game. Little Britain was shut out on the power play, going scoring scoreless on 11 chances with a man advantage.

The Bruins registered two goals on 15 power play opportunities. Team's Vahey and Adam Bartholomew were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. For the Merchants, Greg ONeil and Rory McDowell were ejected from the contest.
