Little Britain survives Georgina comeback, wins 3-2

The Little Britain Merchants survived a determined comeback attempt by the Georgina Ice on the way to a 3-2 win.

Little Britain made the score 2-0 on a goal by Jesse Craig AP at 14:29 in the first period, and Georgina got as close as 2-1 when Luke Vanderkooy scored 7:52 into the third period.

The Merchants pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 23 penalty minutes.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 19:59 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts.

Little Britain kept the Ice's goalie busy throughout the game, and Tyler Richardson made 31 saves on 34 shots. Team could not crack Georgina's penalty kill and was held to one power play goal while having 10 opportunities to play with the man advantage.

The Merchants were led by Kurtis Moore, who racked up one goal and one assist. Moore scored 19:39 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Little Britain. Rory McDowell also scored for Little Britain. More assists for Little Britain came via Aidan Renouf, Riley Jenkins, and Brett Doble, who contributed one a piece.

Little Britain was unable to stop the Ice from sending pucks towards the net, and Georgina eventually piled up 48 shots on goal. The Ice could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 25 minutes in penalties during the game.

Georgina also got a goal from Brandon Brown as well. Other players who recorded assists for Georgina were Brett Thomson, Brett thiessen, and Jonathon Colley, who each chipped in one.

Justus Husak recorded 46 saves for the Merchants. For Little Britain, Nate Huhges and Jesse Beers were ejected from the contest. Georgina registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. The Ice ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Vanderkooy was ejected from the game.
