Little Britain wins tough contest against Port Perry, 5-3

The Little Britain Merchants and the Port Perry Mojacks were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Little Britain made the most of its opportunities and won, 5-3.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Kurtis Moore's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

The Merchants were paced by Moore, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Moore scored 4:08 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Little Britain. Jesse Craig AP provided the assist.

In a losing effort, Port Perry was led by Logan Evans, who registered two goals and one assist. Evans scored the first of his two goals at 17:54 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Port Perry. Kyle Schweda picked up the assist. Evans' next tally made the score 2-1 Port Perry with 13:11 left in the second period. A high sticking call on Colton Hawko put the Mojacks on the penalty kill.

Little Britain excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

Terry Snodden also scored for Little Britain. More assists for Little Britain came via Brock Beers APM, Lucas Hickey AP, Mitch Brown, Greg ONeil, and Garrett Haden, who each chipped in one.

Port Perry forced the Merchants goalie Haden to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots.

Port Perry additionally got points from Schweda, who also tallied one goal and one assist. In addition, Port Perry received assists from Tyler Jennings, who had one.

Garrett Haden made 38 saves for Little Britain on 41 shots. The Merchants incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Little Britain ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Ben Marquis was ejected from the game. Jeff Julien recorded 21 saves for the Mojacks. Port Perry incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
