Lakefield rips Uxbridge, 4-0

The Lakefield Chiefs had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 4-0 win over the Uxbridge Bruins.

Uxbridge's power play was ineffective against Lakefield's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Chiefs were led by Nathan Larson, who registered one goal. Larson scored 5:10 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Lakefield. Travis Brault picked up the assist.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 14:50 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Lakefield penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 13 minors and one major for 41 minutes in penalty time. The Chiefs had been averaging 33.0 minutes in penalties per game. Lakefield's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on 11 Uxbridge power plays. The Chiefs was steadier on the defensive front than they have been for much of this season. Lakefield averages 2.3 goals allowed per game.

Lakefield also got points from Brault, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Derek Manley, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Jordan Walsh also scored for Lakefield. In addition, Lakefield received assists from Keenan Runnalis, Eric Oosting, and Connor Blair, who each chipped in one.

The Bruins racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with nine minors and one major for 33 minutes in penalty time. Uxbridge surpassed its season average of 22.0 penalty minutes per game. The Bruins excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. Uxbridge could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Bruins put an average of 3.4 pucks into the net per game.

Team's Josh Duggan and William Sullivan were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Uxbridge ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Matt Pollard APM was ejected from the game.
