Port Perry rips Georgina, 5-1

The Port Perry Mojacks had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-1 win over the Georgina Ice.

Port Perry pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 16 penalty minutes.

The Mojacks were led by Ryan Beattie, who finished with one goal. Beattie scored 13:11 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Port Perry. Kyle Schweda picked up the assist.

Port Perry put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Georgina to score on any of its seven power plays.

Port Perry also got points from Graham Lamers, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Port Perry included Logan Evans, who had one and Kyle Powell, who had two. In addition, Port Perry received assists from Joe Lamanna and Brodie Meyers, who each chipped in one.

The Ice excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in eight chances.

Jeff Julien made 18 saves for the Mojacks on 19 shots. Tyler Richardson rejected 24 shots on goal for Georgina. The Ice ended with 21 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major. For Georgina, JD Leblond was ejected from the game.
