Clarington outlasts Port Perry, 3-2Scugog Memorial Arena Sun, Oct 27, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Clarington Eagles and the Port Perry Mojacks were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Clarington made the most of its opportunities and won, 3-2. Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Blane Gaudon's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. Brad Down was all over the ice for the Eagles, as he racked up two goals in the win. Down found the back of the net 14:32 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Clarington and again while 8:52 into the third to make the score 2-2. Clarington's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Port Perry power plays. More assists for Clarington came via Morisette APM Mack, Mitchell Burghardt APM, Cody Kean, Thomas Garrity, and Mike Hibbard, who contributed one a piece. Port Perry managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Mojacks finished below its season average of 16.0 penalty minutes per game. Port Perry was helped by Graham Lamers, who had one goal. Lamers scored 5:11 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Port Perry. Ryan Nichols assisted on the tally. Port Perry also got a goal from Kyle Powell as well. Other players who recorded assists for Port Perry were Joe Lamanna and Ryan Beattie, who each chipped in one. CJ Sharp recorded 16 saves for the Eagles. Clarington incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors and had no power play opportunities. Jeff Julien made 18 saves for the Mojacks on 21 shots.
