Clarington rips Lakefield, 5-2

The Lakefield Chiefs had trouble finding ways to stop the Clarington Eagles, which beat Chiefs, 5-2.

Clarington was paced by Brent Hambly, who had one goal. Hambly scored on the power play 9:59 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Clarington. The Eagles had taken the advantage when Lakefield's Travis Brault got sent off for goalie interference. Jake Choiniere assisted on the tally.

Clarington stifled the Chiefs' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Clarington also got points from Jarod Holister, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Clarington also got a goal from Austin Collins APM as well. Other players who recorded assists for Clarington were Dylan Howorko, Cody Kean, and Thomas Garrity, who contributed one a piece.

Lakefield's offense operated below it season average. The Chiefs put an average of 4.3 pucks into the net per game. Lakefield kept the Eagles' goalie busy throughout the game, and CJ Sharp made 31 saves on 33 shots.

The Chiefs were helped by Derek Manley, who tallied one goal. Manley scored 12:26 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Clarington. Eric Shewell provided the assist. Dalton Hill also scored for Lakefield. In addition, Lakefield received assists from Ryan Saunders, who had one.

Clarington incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Zach Wainman took the loss and made six saves before being replaced by Kevin Collins who made 10 saves. Lakefield incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
