Port Perry squeaks by Uxbridge, 3-2Scugog Memorial Arena Sun, Oct 13, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Port Perry Mojacks gutted out a close 3-2 win against the Uxbridge Bruins. Port Perry gained the winning advantage on a goal by Kyle Powell 2:09 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer. Uxbridge's power play was ineffective against the Mojacks' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. Port Perry was led by Powell, who had one goal. The Mojacks excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Port Perry also got a goal from Tyler Jennings as well. In addition, Port Perry received assists from Ryan Nichols, Eric MacDonald, Kyle Schweda, and Brodie Meyers, who contributed one a piece. The Bruins stifled Port Perry's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Uxbridge's offense rang up 31 shots on the Mojacks' net. The Bruins were helped by Dylan Locke, who registered one goal. Locke scored short handed 14:10 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Uxbridge. A slashing call on Matt Pollard APM put Uxbridge on the penalty kill. Tyson Eastgate provided the assist. Carter Vahey also scored for Uxbridge. More assists for Uxbridge came via Connor Evans APM and Keegan McCarthy APM, who each chipped in one. Drew Siydock recorded 29 saves for Port Perry. The Mojacks incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Bruins' Max Tjin stopped 27 shots out of the 30 that he faced. Uxbridge incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Bruins ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Marco Mastrangelo was ejected from the game.
