Collins stymies Georgina, Lakefield wins 4-1

Kevin Collins stood on his head and made 33 saves to lead the Lakefield Chiefs to a 4-1 victory over the Georgina Ice.

Georgina's power play was ineffective against Lakefield's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Chiefs were led by Devin Gilbert, who finished with one goal. Gilbert scored on the power play 8:04 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Lakefield. Lakefield had taken the advantage when the Ice's Jonathon Colley got sent off for cross checking. Shawn Mackie assisted on the tally.

Georgina was unable to stop the Chiefs from sending pucks towards the net, and Lakefield eventually piled up 45 shots on goal.

Lakefield also got points from Travis Brault, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Lakefield also got a goal from Jordan Walsh as well. More assists for Lakefield came via Nathan Larson, who had two and Josh Duggan, Eric Shewell, Connor Blair, and Derek Manley, who each chipped in one.

The Ice's offense rang up 34 shots on the Chiefs' net.

Georgina was led by JP Contento, who scored the team's only goal. Contento scored on the power play 19:29 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Georgina. The Ice earned a power play opportunity when Nick Hildebrant was put in the box for hooking. Brandon Brown picked up the assist.

Lakefield incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Jake Francis rejected 41 shots on goal for Georgina. The Ice incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
