Lindsay downs Burlington, 7-2

Mathew Lewis registered two points to lead the Lindsay Muskies to a 7-2 victory over the Burlington Cougars.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 9:09 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Lindsay's offense rang up 31 shots on Burlington's net. The Muskies surpassed their usual scoring output this season. This season, Lindsay averages 3.1 goals per contest.

Lindsay also got points from Austin Eastman, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Lindsay included Vince Herlihey, who had two and Adrian Vendrasco, Keegan Cairns, and Logan DeNoble, who each put in one. In addition, Lindsay received assists from Austin Brown, James Sterne, Stuart Fierheller, Davis Gadjovich, and Stefan von Engelbrechten, who contributed one a piece and Jake Ryan and Joseph Vocino, who each chipped in two.

The Cougars were helped by Wyatt Trainer, who had one goal. Trainer scored 5:37 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Burlington. Jake Smith assisted on the tally. Burlington also got a goal from Neil Aird as well. Other players who recorded assists for Burlington were Ryan Wilkinson, Paolo DeSousa, and Daniel Campbell, who contributed one a piece.

Branden Francey recorded 20 saves for the Muskies. Lindsay totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with one minor and one major and went 1-for-1 on the power play. The Muskies ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Cairns was ejected from the game. Jeremy Currie made 24 saves for Burlington on 31 shots. The Cougars totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play. For Burlington, Brad Johnson was ejected from the game.
