Oakville downs Lindsay, 5-2Sixteen Mile Sports Complex Sat, Feb 15, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
Ross Sloan registered two points to lead the Oakville Blades to a 5-2 victory over the Lindsay Muskies. In the losing effort, Lindsay was led by Joseph Vocino, who grabbed two goals. Vocino scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 4:09 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Lindsay. The Muskies had gained a power play chance when Joe Seney was whistled for high sticking. Michael Spataro provided the assist. Vocino's next tally on the power play made the score 4-2 Oakville with 12:33 left in the third period. Lindsay had gotten the advantage when Oakville's Ryan Garvey was sent off for cross checking. Austin Brown picked up the assist. The Blades' offense rang up 46 shots on the Muskies' net. Oakville additionally got points from Kris Bennett, who also had one goal and one assist and Dalton Bew, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Matt Luff also scored for Oakville. In addition, Oakville received assists from Greg Campbell, who had three and Greg Allen, Chris Poletek, and Brendan McGlynn, who each chipped in one. Lindsay kept Oakville's goalie busy throughout the game, and McGlynn made 35 saves on 37 shots. More assists for Lindsay came via Vince Herlihey, who had two. The Blades incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Mathew Robson made 41 saves for the Muskies on 46 shots. Lindsay totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 2-for-6 on the power play.
