Huge game by Hogg boosts xCobourg over yAurora, 6-2Aurora Community Centre Fri, Feb 14, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
Connor Hogg had one goal and three assists to lead the xCobourg Cougars to a 6-2 victory over the yAurora Tigers. Hogg scored 14:02 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Stuart King picked up the assist. Hogg dished an assist on Mason Marchment's goal that made the score 1-1 at 15:39 into the first period. He then added assists on Landon Schiller's goal at 19:07 into the second and on Theo Lewis's goal at 16:30 into the third.xCobourg pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 24 penalty minutes. The Cougars stifled yAurora's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. xCobourg bested its season scoring average. This season, the Cougars average 3.2 goals per contest. xCobourg additionally got points from Schiller, who also registered one goal and two assists and Marchment, who also tallied two goals and one assist. xCobourg also got a goal from Ryan OGrady as well. More assists for xCobourg came via TJ Melancon and Alex D Oliveira, who contributed two a piece. The Tigers could not produce up to they normal offensive output. yAurora averages 4.1 goals per game. The Tigers forced xCobourg goalie Nathan Perry to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. yAurora's defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. The Tigers average 2.2 goals allowed per game. yAurora got its opportunities on the power play, but did not convert any of its nine chances. The Tigers were helped by Robert Angiolella, who had one goal. Angiolella scored 13:41 into the second period to make the score 2-1 yAurora. Michael Laidley assisted on the tally. Eric Williams also scored for yAurora. In addition, yAurora received assists from Drake Board, Alex Gilmour, and Curtis Warren, who each chipped in one. Perry recorded 32 saves for the Cougars. xCobourg registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Kevin Entmaa made 23 saves for yAurora on 29 shots. The Tigers incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
