Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the xKingston Voyageurs defeated the xMilton Icehawks in a shootout 5-4 (3-2 SO).

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 19:31 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Voyageurs were often in penalty trouble, totaling eight minors and one major for 31 minutes in penalty time. xKingston had been averaging 17.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Voyageurs kept the Icehawks' goalie busy throughout the game, and Tyler Lewis made 58 saves on 63 shots.

xKingston was helped by Spencer Green, who had one goal. Green scored 3:08 into the second period to make the score 3-2 xKingston. Jarret Kup provided the assist. xKingston also got points from Brett Seney, who also racked up one goal and one assist, OQuinn, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Alex Tonge, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, xKingston received assists from Michael Crocock, Brady, and Michael Casale, who contributed one a piece.

xMilton racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with eight minors and one major for 41 minutes in penalty time. The Icehawks surpassed its season average of 24.0 penalty minutes per game. xMilton forced the Voyageurs goalie Sam Tanguay to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

The Icehawks were led by Alex Riche, who finished with two goals and two assists. Riche scored the first of his two goals at 4:51 into the first period to make the score 1-0 xMilton. Jeremy Gottzmann assisted on the tally. Riche's next tally made the score 2-2 with 7:11 left in the first period. xMilton had taken the advantage when xKingston's OQuinn got sent off for tripping. Gottzmann provided the assist. xMilton additionally got points from Gottzmann, who also racked up one goal and two assists. xMilton also got a goal from Joseph Benvenuto as well. More assists for xMilton came via Bennett, who had two and Kane Elliot and Daniel Poutsoungas, who each chipped in one.

Tanguay recorded 27 saves for the Voyageurs. xKingston registered one goal on six power play opportunities. For the Voyageurs, Josh Hicks was ejected from the game. The Icehawks registered two goals on five power play opportunities. xMilton ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Benvenuto was ejected from the game.
