Mississauga wins tough contest against xWhitby, 3-2Iroquois - Rink#1 Sun, Feb 02, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The game between the Mississauga Chargers and the xWhitby Fury was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Mississauga emerged with a 3-2 win. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Lucas Venuto secured the win for the Chargers with a goal in the third period. Mississauga was led by Venuto, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Venuto scored 8:27 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Mississauga. Trevor Warnaar picked up the assist. The Chargers forced xWhitby goalie Tyler Feaver to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. Mississauga also had goals scored by Vince Figliomeni and Mitch Mehling, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Mississauga were Nick Tetley and Matt Hore, who contributed one a piece. The Fury stifled Mississauga's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. xWhitby could not produce up to it normal offensive output. Clements scored on the power play 14:56 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Mississauga. xWhitby earned a power play opportunity when Zackery Landsfield was put in the box for high sticking. Taylor Best assisted on the tally. xWhitby additionally got points from Greg Milner, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for xWhitby came via Mike Panowyk, who had one. Austin Washkurak made 45 saves for Mississauga on 47 shots. The Chargers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Fury's Feaver stopped 29 shots out of the 32 that he faced. xWhitby incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
