Huge game by Marchment boosts xCobourg over Trenton, 8-3Cobourg Community Centre Mon, Jan 27, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The xCobourg Cougars' Mason Marchment had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing three assists in his team's 8-3 win over the Trenton Golden Hawks. Marchment got on the board by slotting home a power play goal 7:59 into the third period to make the score 4-3 xCobourg. xCobourg earned a power play opportunity when Brett Seldon was put in the box for holding. Alex D Oliveira assisted on the tally. Marchment dished an assist on Mitchell Gibson APJ's goal that made the score 1-0 xCobourg at 2:02 into the first period. He then added assists on Conner Hogg's goal at 17:14 into the first and on Jake Emilio's goal at 17:36 into the second.Trenton was doomed by its poor performance on special teams, as the Cougars were able to score five times while on the power play. xCobourg excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Nathan Perry recorded 25 saves for the Cougars. xCobourg incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Connor Hughes took the loss and made 19 saves before being replaced by Denny Dubblestyne who made two saves. Trenton incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
