Georgetown survives Toronto comeback, wins 7-6Chesswood Arena Sun, Jan 26, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Toronto Junior Canadiens tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Georgetown Raiders would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 7-6. A goal by Adam Mascherin put Georgetown up 6-3 in the third period, but Toronto pulled to within one on Connor Prudames's tally 8:12 into the third period. The Raiders got the win behind a great game by Steve Hladin, who had four goals and two assists. Hladin got on the scoresheet 12:45 into the first period. He then added goals at 2:13 into the second, at 19:27 into the second, and at 8:39 into the third. Georgetown made Junior Canadiens' goalies to work between the pipes, launching 35 shots and forcing 28 saves. Daniel Lopapa made 24 stops and Nathan Colitto made four. The Raiders put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Junior Canadiens to score on any of their three power plays. Georgetown outdid its season average for goals scored. The Raiders have scored at the pace of 3.4 goals per game during the current campaign. Georgetown also got points from Mascherin, who also tallied one goal and five assists and John Adams, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Brendan Jacome also scored for Georgetown. In addition, Georgetown received assists from Jordan Brown, Liam Clare, Scott Emerson, and Richard Court, who contributed one a piece. Toronto managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Junior Canadiens finished below its season average of 18.0 penalty minutes per game. Toronto bested its season scoring average. The Junior Canadiens average 3.3 goals per game. Toronto was led by Jake Walman, who registered one goal and two assists. Walman scored 6:11 into the third period to make the score 6-4 Georgetown. Mark Spadafora assisted on the tally. Toronto additionally got points from Prudames, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Aaron Spivak, who also had one goal and one assist, and Daniel Harquail, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Toronto also had goals scored by Ryan MacSpadyen and Anthony Repaci, who each put in one. More assists for Toronto came via Cody Thompson, Sal Filice, and Nicholas Jarzabek, who each chipped in one. Michael McNiven made 23 saves for Georgetown on 29 shots. The Raiders incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
