Perry stymies St. Michaels, Cobourg wins 2-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by Nathan Perry helped the Cobourg Cougars defeat the St. Michaels Buzzers, 2-1.

Cobourg was led by Mark MacAulay, who finished with one goal. MacAulay scored 7:57 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Cobourg. Taylor Gauld assisted on the tally.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 16:50 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Cougars excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. St. Michaels was unable to stop Cobourg from sending pucks towards the net, and the Cougars eventually piled up 37 shots on goal.

Cobourg also got a goal from Connor Armour as well. In addition, Cobourg received assists from Alex D Oliveira, Jake Emilio, and Landon Schiller, who each chipped in one.

The Buzzers were held below their usual level of production. St. Michaels averages 3.3 goals per game.

The Buzzers were led by Jake Clements, who scored the team's only goal. Clements scored 9:32 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Michaels. Mike Lansdowne provided the assist.

Nathan Perry made 29 saves for Cobourg on 30 shots. The Cougars totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Cobourg ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Theo Lewis was ejected from the game. Victor Adamo rejected 35 shots on goal for St. Michaels. The Buzzers ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. For St. Michaels, Jordan Schneider was ejected from the game.
