Georgetown wins tough contest against Orangeville, 3-2Alder St. Recreation Centre Sun, Jan 12, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The game between the Georgetown Raiders and the Orangeville Flyers was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Georgetown emerged with a 3-2 win. The Raiders gained the winning advantage on a goal by Steven Mueller 19:42 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer. Mueller was all over the ice for Georgetown, as he registered two goals in the win. The Raiders' penalty kill excelled, as Georgetown gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays. The Raiders stifled Orangeville's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Georgetown kept the Flyers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Wyatt Pickrell made 30 saves on 33 shots. Brendan Jacome also scored for Georgetown. In addition, Georgetown received assists from Mitchell Kreis, Jordan Brown, Liam Clare, Steve Hladin, Liam Board, and John Adams, who each chipped in one. Orangeville was helped by Carmine APJ Vietri, who tallied one goal. APJ Vietri scored 14:14 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Brad Sheppard provided the assist. Orangeville also got a goal from Emmerson Small as well. Other players who recorded assists for Orangeville were Connor Stack and Lucas Smilsky, who contributed one a piece. The Raiders' Michael Singh stopped 23 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Georgetown incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Flyers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
