Stouffville beats Toronto 6-3 as Kopstals gets hat trick

Andres Kopstals lifted the Stouffville Spirit to a 6-3 victory with a hat trick against the Toronto Junior Canadiens.

Kopstals got on the scoresheet 4:59 into the first period. He then added goals at 3:27 into the second and at 19:12 into the third.

Stouffville forced Toronto goalie Daniel Lopapa to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. The Spirit found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Stouffville averages 3.2 goals per game.

Others who scored for Stouffville included Matthew Heffernan, Tyson Bruce, and Carter Cummings, who each put in one. In addition, Stouffville received assists from Spencer Roberts, Chad Burrows, Cameron Lintner, Justin Wain, Joseph Deveny, and Nick Thomakos, who contributed one a piece and Michael Carcone and Graham Pickard, who each chipped in two.

The Junior Canadiens were helped by Nicholas Jarzabek, who grabbed one goal. Jarzabek scored 1:12 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Toronto. Connor Prudames provided the assist. Toronto also got points from Prudames, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Kennedy Duguid also scored for Toronto. Other players who recorded assists for Toronto were Jake Walman, who had two and Luca Farrace and Christopher Jarzabek, who contributed one a piece.

Daniel Mannella recorded 26 saves for the Spirit. Stouffville totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. For the Spirit, Brady Baker was ejected from the game. Daniel Lopapa made 26 saves for Toronto on 31 shots. The Junior Canadiens totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Toronto ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Cody Thompson was ejected from the game.
