The Milton Icehawks survived a determined comeback attempt by the Burlington Cougars on the way to a 2-1 win. Milton took a 2-0 lead during the third period, only to have Burlington storm back on a Ryan Wilkinson goal 7:15 into the third period to pull to one goal down. The Cougars were stymied by the Icehawks netminder Tyler Lewis, who stopped 26 shots during the victory. Lewis managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.5 prior to the game. Burlington's power play was ineffective against Milton's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. The Icehawks forced the Cougars goalie Jeremy Currie to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. Milton had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just one goal on nine chances. The Icehawks could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 34 minutes in penalties during the game. Milton was helped by Shane Bennett, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Bennett scored 6:17 into the third period to make the score Milton. Jeremy Gottzmann picked up the assist. Milton additionally got points from Gottzmann, who also had one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Milton were Cooper Richards, who had two. Burlington could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 42 minutes in penalties during the game. In addition, Burlington received assists from Neil Aird and Daniel Campbell, who contributed one a piece. Currie rejected 31 shots on goal for the Cougars.
