St. Michaels downs Whitby, 6-2

Angelpooulos Peter grabbed two points to lead the St. Michaels Buzzers to a 6-2 victory over the Whitby Fury.

St. Michaels forced Whitby's goalies to work without much rest, launching 34 shots and forcing 28 saves. Tyler Feaver made 19 stops and Boyd Diclemente made nine. The Buzzers bested their season scoring average. St. Michaels averages 3.4 goals per game. The Buzzers could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 18 minutes in penalties during the game.

Others who scored for St. Michaels included Jake Evans, who had two and Stefano Pezzetta, Thomas Beretta, and Matt Pepler, who scored one goal each. More assists for St. Michaels came via David Italiano, who had two and Ian Edmondson, Ashur Elliot, Matt Alvaro, Joseph Berton, CJ Shugart, Bron Loiselle, and Mike Lansdowne, who contributed one a piece.

The Fury's offense operated below they season average. Whitby puts an average of 4.3 pucks into the net per game. St. Michaels was unable to stop the Fury from sending pucks towards the net, and Whitby eventually piled up 48 shots on goal. The Fury were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 24 penalty minutes.

Whitby was helped by Greg Milner, who finished with one goal. Milner scored on the power play 4:06 into the second period to make the score 3-2 St. Michaels. The Fury earned a power play opportunity when Luca Doctor was put in the box for cross checking. Adam Clements provided the assist. Marcus Crawford also scored for Whitby. Other players who recorded assists for Whitby were Mike Panowyk, Ryan Kirkup, and Marco Azzano, who each chipped in one.

Victor Adamo recorded 46 saves for the Buzzers. St. Michaels registered two goals on five power play opportunities. Whitby registered two goals on six power play opportunities. The Fury ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Sean Deroch was ejected from the game.
