Mississauga beats Oakville 7-2 as Venuto gets hat trick

Lucas Venuto lifted the Mississauga Chargers to a 7-2 victory with a hat trick against the Oakville Blades.

Venuto got on the scoresheet 11:30 into the first period. He then added goals at 19:15 into the first and at 15:40 into the third.

Mississauga scored early and often, and held a 4-0 advantage after the first 20 minutes of play.

The Chargers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Mississauga's offense rang up 36 shots on Oakville's net. The Chargers' goal total was higher than their season average. Mississauga has scored at the pace of 3.3 goals per game during the current campaign.

Mississauga also got points from Trevor Warnaar, who also registered one goal and three assists. Mississauga also had goals scored by Galli Austin, Zackery Landsfield, and Vince Figliomeni, who each put in one. More assists for Mississauga came via Joseph Molinaro, who had two, Mitch Mehling, who had three, and Jackson Howe, Nick Tetley, and Ayrton Valente, who contributed one a piece.

The Blades stifled the Chargers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Oakville forced Mississauga goalie Austin Washkurak to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

The Blades were helped by Ross Sloan, who racked up one goal. Sloan scored 6:46 into the third period to make the score 6-2 Mississauga. Austin Clapham assisted on the tally. Oakville also got a goal from Kamil Tkaczuk as well. Other players who recorded assists for Oakville were Ryan Garvey, who had one.

Washkurak rejected 29 shots on goal for the Chargers. Mississauga incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Mark Manolescu made 29 saves for Oakville on 36 shots. The Blades incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
