Hamilton rolls over Orangeville, 6-3

The Hamilton Red Wings had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-3 win over the Orangeville Flyers.

Hamilton got the win behind a great game by Corey Caruso, who had one goal and two assists. Caruso scored 16:36 into the second period to make the score 5-3 Hamilton. Alex Zaccaria picked up the assist.

The Red Wings put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Orangeville to score on any of its four power plays. Hamilton forced the Flyers goalie Wyatt Pickrell to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots. The Red Wings' goal total was higher than their season average. This season, Hamilton averages 3.1 goals per contest.

Hamilton also got points from Mitch Reid, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Zaccaria, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Hamilton included Garnet Batrynchok, Luke Sinclair, and Josh LaFrance, who scored one goal each. More assists for Hamilton came via Connor Bramwell, Ryan Laufman, Niko Porikos, and Marco Mattina, who contributed one a piece.

Orangeville's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Hamilton power plays.

The Flyers were helped by Scott Goodman, who tallied one goal. Goodman scored 4:20 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Austin Kozluk assisted on the tally. Orangeville also had goals scored by Connor Stack and Brandon Gaudette, who each put in one. In addition, Orangeville received assists from Lucas Smilsky, who had one.

Corey Foster recorded 26 saves for the Red Wings. Hamilton incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Wyatt Pickrell made 33 saves for Orangeville on 39 shots. The Flyers incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
