Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the North York Rangers defeated the Oakville Blades in a shootout 4-3 (2-1 SO). The shootout lasted for six attempts between the teams. Oakville got a shootout goal from Dalton Bew. North York's other shootout goal was scored by Corey Kalk.The Rangers' offense rang up 46 shots on the Blades' net. North York was helped by Liam Kerins, who finished with one goal. Kerins scored short handed 15:14 into the third period to make the score 3-2 North York. The Rangers played down a man on Tye Campbell's checking from behind. Gabriel Valenzuela picked up the assist. Others who scored for North York included Fung Zachary and Kalk, who each put in one. More assists for North York came via Patrick Piacentini, Valadao Adam, and Alex Leader, who contributed one a piece. Oakville stifled North York's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Blades were helped by Ross Sloan, who racked up one goal. Sloan scored on the power play 12:11 into the second period to make the score 1-1. A roughing penalty on Kerins had put Oakville on the power play. Kamil Tkaczuk provided the assist. Oakville also had goals scored by Greg Campbell and Bew, who scored one goal each. In addition, Oakville received assists from Marcel Fatovic and Sean Perichak, who each chipped in one. Jason Pucciarelli made 27 saves for the Rangers on 30 shots. North York incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For the Rangers, Campbell was ejected from the game. The Blades' Mark Manolescu stopped 42 shots out of the 45 that he faced. Oakville incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
