Toronto Lakeshore rips Burlington, 8-1

The Toronto Lakeshore Patriots had a six-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 8-1 win over the Burlington Cougars.

Robert Powers was all over the ice for Toronto Lakeshore, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Powers scored 9:09 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Toronto Lakeshore. Niko Kovachis provided the assist.

The Patriots' penalty kill excelled, as Toronto Lakeshore gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

The Patriots stifled Burlington's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Toronto Lakeshore forced the Cougars goalie Morton Josh to work between the pipes, taking 50 shots. The Patriots bested their season scoring average. This season, Toronto Lakeshore averages 3.9 goals per contest.

Toronto Lakeshore additionally got points from Kevin Shier, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Toronto Lakeshore also had goals scored by Andreas Tsogkas and Matthew Marchese, who each put in two and Jacob Hayhurst and Marcus Rose, who scored one goal each. In addition, Toronto Lakeshore received assists from Michael Prapavessis, who had two and Tyler Currie, Tyler Enns, Doug Bonar, Lior Goldenberg, Rory Bell, and Quinn Syrydiuk, who contributed one a piece.

Burlington was led by Tyler Lepore, who scored the team's only goal. Lepore scored 3:43 into the second period to make the score 4-1 Toronto Lakeshore.

Evan Buitenhuis rejected 23 shots on goal for the Patriots. Toronto Lakeshore incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Josh Morton made 42 saves for the Cougars on 50 shots. Burlington incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For the Cougars, Kyle Kokotailo was ejected from the game.
