Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Toronto Junior Canadiens defeated the North York Rangers in a shootout 3-2 (1-0 SO). The shootout featured 10 attempts between both teams.Mark Spadafora was all over the ice for Toronto, as he had two goals in the win. Spadafora's tallies came at 6:36 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Toronto and 1:58 into the third to make the score 2-1 Toronto. The Junior Canadiens found themselves short handed often, totaling 19 penalty minutes and allowing five power plays. Other players who recorded assists for Toronto were Sal Filice, Aaron Spivak, and Daniel Volpe, who contributed one a piece. North York excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. The Rangers forced Toronto goalie Daniel Lopapa to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. North York was helped by Tye Campbell, who racked up one goal. Campbell scored on the power play 16:53 into the second period to make the score 1-1. The Rangers had gained a power play chance when Daniel Harquail was whistled for cross checking. Kyle Thacker assisted on the tally. Fung Zachary also scored for North York. In addition, North York received assists from Valadao Adam and Ted Hunt, who each chipped in one. Lopapa rejected 32 shots on goal for the Junior Canadiens. For Toronto, Harquail was ejected from the game. Jason Pucciarelli made 25 saves for North York on 27 shots. The Rangers incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
