Hladin nets hat trick, leads Georgetown to 5-1 win over Hamilton

Steve Hladin netted a hat trick to lead the Georgetown Raiders over the Hamilton Red Wings, 5-1.

Hladin's first goal came 15:20 into the second period. He then added goals at 18:13 into the second and at 3:03 into the third.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 11:52 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Georgetown stifled Hamilton's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Raiders kept the Red Wings' goalie busy throughout the game, and Mark Sinclair made 32 saves on 37 shots.

Others who scored for Georgetown included Brendan Jacome and Phil Kiss, who scored one goal each. In addition, Georgetown received assists from Mitchell Kreis, Drake Hart (APJ), and Richard Court, who contributed one a piece and Nicholas Palumbo and Liam Board, who each chipped in two.

Hamilton put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Georgetown to score on any of its three power plays. The Red Wings did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Hamilton averages 3.2 goals per game.

The Red Wings were led by Mitch Reid, who scored the team's only goal. Reid scored 7:23 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Hamilton. Connor Bramwell picked up the assist.

Michael McNiven made 18 saves for the Raiders on 19 shots. Georgetown ended with 43 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. For the Raiders, Scott Emerson was ejected from the game. Hamilton totaled 43 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-3 on the power play. Team's Brandon Kolaski and Niko Porikos were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
