Whitby squeaks by Trenton, 5-3Iroquois - Rink#1 Sun, Dec 15, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The game between the Whitby Fury and the Trenton Golden Hawks was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Whitby emerged with a 5-3 win. The Fury gained the winning advantage on a goal by Marcus Crawford 18:43 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer. Whitby was led by Jeff Murray, who racked up one goal. Murray scored 4:10 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Whitby. Adam Clements provided the assist. Whitby additionally got points from Mike Panowyk, who also registered one goal and one assist and Taylor Best, who also had one goal and one assist. Whitby also got a goal from Marco Azzano as well. More assists for Whitby came via Greg Milner and Sean Deroch, who each chipped in one and Henry Thompson and Alex Adams, who contributed two a piece. Trenton could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 32 minutes in penalties during the game. The Golden Hawks were helped by Nick Santoro, who grabbed one goal. Santoro scored 5:25 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Whitby. Ryan Kinsella picked up the assist. Trenton also had goals scored by Mathew Thompson and Tyler Donaldson, who each put in one. In addition, Trenton received assists from Tyler Mayea, Bobby Polachek, and Zach de Concilys, who each chipped in one. Boyd Diclemente recorded 24 saves for the Fury. Whitby incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Denny Dubblestyne made 25 saves for Trenton on 30 shots. The Golden Hawks registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
