Oakville downs Toronto Lakeshore in overtime, 2-1 (OT)

The Oakville Blades' Kris Bennet scored 1:32 into overtime to beat the Toronto Lakeshore Patriots, 2-1 (OT).

Oakville's Brendan McGlynn was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 30 saves and let only one puck past him. McGlynn managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 4.5 prior to the game.

The Blades were sparked by Bennet, who registered one goal.

Sean Perichak also scored for Oakville. In addition, Oakville received assists from Dalton Bew and Ross Sloan, who contributed one a piece.

Toronto Lakeshore avoided man-down situations well, tallying one major for five minutes in penalty time. The Patriots finished below its season average of 13.0 penalty minutes per game. Toronto Lakeshore was held below its usual level of production. The Patriots average 3.9 goals per game. Toronto Lakeshore's offense rang up 31 shots on Oakville's net.

The Patriots were led by Doug Bonar, who scored the team's only goal. Bonar scored on the power play 5:14 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Toronto Lakeshore. Toronto Lakeshore earned a power play opportunity when Bennet was put in the box for tripping. Kevin Shier assisted on the tally.

The Blades incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Patriots' Mark Manolescu stopped 19 shots out of the 21 that he faced. Toronto Lakeshore registered one goal on two power play opportunities. The Patriots ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Quinn Syrydiuk was ejected from the game.
