Pickering blows out Stouffville, 5-2

The Pickering Panthers had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-2 win over the Stouffville Spirit.

Brodie Tutton had two goals and one assist to lead Pickering. Tutton scored the first of his two goals at 8:44 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Pickering. Michael Giacometti assisted on the tally. Tutton's next tally made the score 4-1 Pickering with 14:52 left in the third period. A tripping penalty on Andres Kopstals had put the Panthers on the power play. Keegan Ackerland picked up the assist.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 16:33 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Pickering forced Stouffville goalie Daniel Mannella to work between the pipes, taking 44 shots.

Pickering also had goals scored by Michael Walker, Robert Cammalleri, and Mike Nedoszytko, who scored one goal each. More assists for Pickering came via Tanner Shaw, Mark Tenuta, Nicholas Lepone, and Riley Devine, who contributed one a piece.

The Spirit were helped by Graham Pickard, who grabbed one goal. Pickard scored on the power play 13:20 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Pickering. Stouffville earned a power play opportunity when Ackerland was put in the box for high sticking. Michael Carcone assisted on the tally. Stouffville additionally got points from Christopher Brill-Morgan, who also had one goal and one assist. In addition, Stouffville received assists from Spencer Roberts, who had one.

Steven Dombrosky made 28 saves for the Panthers on 30 shots. Pickering totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. The Panthers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Cam Palmer was ejected from the game. The Spirit's Mannella stopped 39 shots out of the 44 that he faced. Stouffville totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play. Team's Justin Wain and Joseph Deveny were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
