Kingston rips Oakville, 5-2Sixteen Mile Sports Complex Fri, Dec 13, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Kingston Voyageurs had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-2 win over the Oakville Blades. Oakville's power play was ineffective against Kingston's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. In the losing effort, the Blades were sparked by Sean Perichak, who tallied two goals. Perichak scored the first of his two goals at 8:16 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Oakville. Matt Luff assisted on the tally. Perichak's next tally made the score 4-2 Kingston with 5:22 left in the third period. A head contact penalty on Zachary Emelifeonwu had put Oakville on the power play. Greg Campbell picked up the assist. The Blades were unable to stop the Voyageurs from sending pucks towards the net, and Kingston eventually piled up 37 shots on goal. The Voyageurs could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 38 minutes in penalties during the game. Kingston was helped by Alex Tonge, who had one goal. Tonge scored on the power play 3:18 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Kingston. The Voyageurs had taken the advantage when Oakville's Chris Poletek got sent off for too many men. Adam Brady assisted on the tally. Kingston additionally got points from Michael Crocock, who also had one goal and one assist and Brett Seney, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Kingston included Adam Moodie and Michael Casale, who each put in one. More assists for Kingston came via Brandon O Quinn, who had three and Jarret Kup, Brett Du Puy, and Spencer Green, who contributed one a piece. The Blades forced Kingston goalie Alex Brooks-Potts to work between the pipes, taking 44 shots. In addition, Oakville received assists from Sean Kohler and Austin Clapham, who each chipped in one. Brooks-Potts recorded 42 saves for the Voyageurs. Kingston registered two goals on five power play opportunities. Evan Buitenhuis made 32 saves for Oakville on 36 shots. The Blades incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
