Toronto Lakeshore blows out Mississauga, 7-1

The Toronto Lakeshore Patriots were firing on all cylinders against the Mississauga Chargers, and when the final buzzer sounded Patriots emerged with a 7-1 win.

Toronto Lakeshore's Mark Manolescu was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 27 saves and let only one puck past him. Manolescu managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.15 prior to the game.

The Patriots were sparked by Nicholas Ursitti, who had one goal. Ursitti scored 10:54 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Toronto Lakeshore. Matthew Marchese provided the assist.

The Toronto Lakeshore penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled seven minors and one major for 19 minutes in penalty time. The Patriots surpassed its season average of 14.0 penalty minutes per game. Toronto Lakeshore forced Chargers' netminders to work all game long, ripping 40 shots and forcing 33 saves. Austin Washkurak made 17 stops and Alex Lepore made 16. The Patriots stifled Mississauga's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Toronto Lakeshore bested its season scoring average. The Patriots have scored at the pace of 3.9 goals per game during the current campaign.

Toronto Lakeshore also got points from Tyler Enns, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Jacob Hayhurst, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, Brandon Willett, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Kevin Shier, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Toronto Lakeshore included Andreas Tsogkas and Nathan Feric, who scored one goal each. In addition, Toronto Lakeshore received assists from Marcus Rose, who had one and Cory Laver, Marco Bozzo, and Michael Prapavessis, who contributed two a piece.

The Chargers were led by Joseph Molinaro, who scored the team's only goal. Molinaro scored 3:15 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Toronto Lakeshore. Tyler Cooper picked up the assist.

Toronto Lakeshore registered one goal on three power play opportunities. For the Patriots, Niko Kovachis was ejected from the game. Mississauga totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-5 on the power play. The Chargers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jackson Howe was ejected from the game.
