Trenton's comeback falls short, Toronto wins 6-5

The Toronto Junior Canadiens, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by Toronto and clinched a 6-5 victory.

The Junior Canadiens led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Toronto's Aaron Spivak's scored at 7:51 in the first period to put the Junior Canadiens up 3-0.

Anthony Repaci had two goals to lead Toronto to victory. Repaci scored at 35 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Toronto and again while 16:32 into the third to make the score 6-4 Toronto.

The Junior Canadiens' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Trenton power plays. Toronto forced the Trenton Golden Hawks goalie Emerson Verrier to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. The Junior Canadiens bested their season scoring average. This season, Toronto averages 3.5 goals per contest.

Toronto also got points from Spivak, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Toronto also got a goal from Michael Cuddemi as well. Other players who recorded assists for Toronto were Aaron Thow and Luca Farrace, who contributed one a piece and Jake Walman, Cody Thompson, and Nicholas Jarzabek, who each chipped in two.

Trenton stifled the Junior Canadiens' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Toronto was unable to stop the Golden Hawks from sending pucks towards the net, and Trenton eventually piled up 31 shots on goal. The Golden Hawks' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Trenton was helped by Danny Liscio, who had two goals. Liscio scored the first of his two goals at 11 seconds into the second period to make the score 3-3. Brady Wiffen provided the assist. Liscio's next tally made the score 4-4 with 17:38 left in the third period. Mathew Thompson picked up the assist. Trenton additionally got points from Tyler Mayea, who also registered one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Trenton included Tyler Sehovic and Dalton Lawrence, who each put in one. More assists for Trenton came via Chrisitian Lloyd and Zach de Concilys, who contributed one a piece.

The Junior Canadiens' Nathan Colitto stopped 26 shots out of the 31 that he faced. Toronto incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Emerson Verrier made 26 saves for the Golden Hawks on 32 shots. Trenton incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
