Burlington holds on for 4-2 win against OrangevilleWave Twin Rinks - Black Fri, Nov 22, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Orangeville Flyers tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Burlington Cougars held on for a 4-2 victory. Burlington took a 4-1 lead during the third period, only to have Orangeville storm back on a Brandon Gaudette goal 15:43 into the third period to pull to two goals down. Tyler Lepore had a great game for the Cougars, netting two goals. Lepore scored on the power play at 4:31 into the second period to make the score 1-1 and again while on the power play 10:26 into the second to make the score 2-1 Burlington. Burlington kept the Flyers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Taylor Welsh made 28 saves on 32 shots. Burlington also had goals scored by Riley Dunda and Ryan Wilkinson, who scored one goal each. More assists for Burlington came via Neil Aird, who had one, Carl Greco, who had three, and Steven Mueller and Daniel Campbell, who contributed two a piece. Orangeville struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 26 penalty minutes for eight opposing power plays. Connor Stack also scored for Orangeville. Other players who recorded assists for Orangeville were Brian Fonseca, Keegan Ackerland, and Nick Connell, who each chipped in one. Devin Tappendan made 22 saves for the Cougars on 24 shots. Burlington incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Flyers registered one goal on three power play opportunities.
