Huge game by Hogg boosts Cobourg over Oakville, 6-1

Behind a great game by Conner Hogg, who had two goals and one assist, the Cobourg Cougars defeated the Oakville Blades, 6-1.

Hogg's tallies came on the power play at 8:42 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Cobourg and 3:16 into the second to make the score 3-1 Cobourg.

Cobourg excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Cougars' offense rang up 47 shots on Oakville's net. Cobourg's goal total was higher than its season average. This season, the Cougars average 3.0 goals per contest. Cobourg's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in three goals.

Cobourg additionally got points from Landon Schiller, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Kenzie Smith, who also registered two goals and one assist. Cobourg also got a goal from Ryan OGrady as well. Other players who recorded assists for Cobourg were Alex D Oliveira, Ryan Logan, Stuart King, and Connor Armour, who contributed one a piece and Liam Grande and Taylor Gauld, who each chipped in two.

The Blades' offense operated below they season average. Oakville puts an average of 3.2 pucks into the net per game.

The Blades were led by Ryan Garvey, who scored the team's only goal. Garvey scored 5:32 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Dalton Bew assisted on the tally.

Nathan Perry made 20 saves for the Cougars on 21 shots. Cobourg incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Evan Buitenhuis recorded 41 saves for Oakville. The Blades incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
