Whitby survives Pickering comeback, wins 6-5Pickering Recreation Complex Fri, Nov 15, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Pickering Panthers tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Whitby Fury held on for a 6-5 victory. Whitby took a 5-2 lead during the second period, only to have Pickering storm back on a Robert Cammalleri goal 6:08 into the third period to pull to one goal down. The Fury were led by Adam Clements, who tallied one goal and one assist. Clements scored 15:17 into the third period to make the score 6-4 Whitby. Whitby kept the Panthers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Steven Dombrosky made 27 saves on 33 shots. Whitby also got points from Greg Milner, who also had two goals and one assist. Others who scored for Whitby included Mike Panowyk, who had one and Ryan Kirkup, who had two. Other players who recorded assists for Whitby were Marcus Crawford, Henry Thompson, and Jonathan OHara, who each chipped in one and Jeff Murray and Taylor Best, who contributed two a piece. Pickering surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Panthers average 2.8 goals per contest. Pickering was helped by Brodie Tutton, who grabbed two goals. Tutton scored the first of his two goals at 6:40 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Whitby. Mike Nedoszytko provided the assist. Tutton's next tally made the score 4-2 Whitby with 13:15 left in the second period. Nedoszytko picked up the assist. Pickering also got a goal from Chris Sekelyk as well. More assists for Pickering came via Mark Tenuta, who had three and Tanner Shaw, Sean Power, Corey Helliwell, and Nicholas Lepone, who each chipped in one. Boyd Diclemente recorded 23 saves for the Fury. Whitby incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Panthers incurred 38 minutes in penalty time with four minors. For Pickering, Brent Tuchner was ejected from the game.
