Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Kingston Voyageurs defeated the Wellington Dukes in a shootout 4-3 (1-0 SO). The shootout lasted for five attempts between the teams.Kingston's offense rang up 55 shots on Wellington's net. The Voyageurs were led by Alex Tonge, who tallied one goal and one assist. Tonge scored 15:46 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Kingston. Patrick Volpe assisted on the tally. Kingston also got a goal from Brandon O Quinn as well. In addition, Kingston received assists from Spencer Green, who had one and Brett Seney, who had two. The Dukes forced Kingston goalie Alex Brooks-Potts to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots. Wellington's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Dukes finished with 26 penalty minutes. Wellington was helped by Steven Deeg, who finished with one goal. Deeg scored on the power play 17:31 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wellington. The Dukes earned a power play opportunity when Zachary Emelifeonwu was put in the box for bench / coach. Cody Gratton provided the assist. Andrew McCann also scored for Wellington. Other players who recorded assists for Wellington were Andrew Coupland, Jacob Hetherington, Kyle Paat, and Trevor Abbot, who contributed one a piece. Alex Brooks-Potts made 36 saves for the Voyageurs on 39 shots. Kingston incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Wellington's Tyson Teichmann stopped 51 shots out of the 54 that he faced. The Dukes registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
