Oakville beats Toronto Lakeshore 4-0 as Buitenhuis gains shutout

Evan Buitenhuis made 36 saves to complete the shutout and led the Oakville Blades to a 4-0 win against the Toronto Lakeshore Patriots.

Oakville was led by Ryan Garvey, who grabbed one goal. Garvey scored 4:10 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Oakville. Dalton Bew assisted on the tally.

The Blades put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Toronto Lakeshore to score on any of its four power plays.

Oakville also got points from Kamil Tkaczuk, who also registered one goal and one assist, Bew, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, and Ross Sloan, who also finished with one goal and one assist. In addition, Oakville received assists from Kris Bennet, who had one and Marcel Fatovic, who had two.

The Patriots were held below their usual level of production. Toronto Lakeshore puts an average of 4.0 pucks into the net per game. The Patriots forced Oakville goalie Buitenhuis to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

The Blades incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. For Oakville, Daniel Jelic was ejected from the game. Jeremy Helvig recorded 16 saves for Toronto Lakeshore. The Patriots incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
