Stouffville completes comeback, beats Pickering, 3-2Stouffville Arena Thu, Nov 07, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Stouffville Spirit rallied from two goals down to secure a 3-2 win over the Pickering Panthers. Stouffville never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Spirit was down 2-0 after a goal by Pickering's Nicholas Lepone at 10:52 in the first period. Stouffville tied things up at 2-2 on a goal by Joseph Deveny at 5:24 in the third period. The Spirit got the game winner at 11:24 in the third period on a goal by Deveny. Stouffville was led by Michael Morgan, who registered one goal. The Spirit kept the Panthers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Steven Dombrosky made 43 saves on 46 shots. Stouffville additionally got points from Deveny, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Peyton Backus also scored for Stouffville. Other players who recorded assists for Stouffville were Chad Burrows, Robert Powers, and Nick Thomakos, who contributed one a piece. Pickering excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Panthers forced Stouffville goalie Daniel Mannella to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. Pickering was helped by Brodie Tutton, who grabbed one goal. Tutton scored on the power play 1:30 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Pickering. The Panthers had taken the advantage when the Spirit's Mannella got sent off for tripping. Tanner Shaw picked up the assist. In addition, Pickering received assists from Michael Walker, Robert Cammalleri, and Matteo Condotta, who each chipped in one. Stouffville's Mannella stopped 29 shots out of the 31 that he faced. The Spirit incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Pickering incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
