Toronto survives Orangeville comeback, wins 5-4

The Orangeville Flyers almost clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, but the Toronto Junior Canadiens managed to pull out a 5-4 win in the end.

Toronto led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Junior Canadiens' Connor Prudames's scored at 1:15 in the second period to put Toronto up 3-0.

The Junior Canadiens were paced by Aaron Spivak, who finished with one goal and one assist. Spivak scored 4:25 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Toronto. Cody Thompson assisted on the tally.

Toronto's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Orangeville power plays. Orangeville was unable to stop the Junior Canadiens from sending pucks towards the net, and Toronto eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

Michael Cuddemi also scored for Toronto. Other players who recorded assists for Toronto were Mark Spadafora, who had one and Nicholas Jarzabek, who had two.

The Flyers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Orangeville kept the Junior Canadiens' goalie busy throughout the game, and Nathan Colitto made 41 saves on 45 shots.

The Flyers were helped by Ian Nichols, who registered one goal. Nichols scored 5:15 into the third period to make the score 5-4 Toronto. Brandon Gaudette provided the assist. Orangeville additionally got points from Jake Derkach, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Orangeville also got a goal from Mathew Thompson as well. More assists for Orangeville came via Lucas Smilsky, who had two and Keegan Ackerland, Angelpooulos Peter, and Colin Rigney, who contributed one a piece.

Toronto incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Orangeville's Wyatt Pickrell stopped 30 shots out of the 35 that he faced. The Flyers incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
