St. Michaels uses shootout to best Hamilton, 3-2 (4-3 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the St. Michaels Buzzers defeated the Hamilton Red Wings in a shootout 3-2 (4-3 SO).

The shootout featured 12 attempts between both teams. Hamilton's shootout goals were scored by Luke Sinclair, Connor Bramwell, and Cole Poliziani. St. Michaels' other shootout goals were scored by CJ Shugart, David Italiano, and Bron Loiselle.

The Buzzers saw a two-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. St. Michaels made the score 2-0 on a goal by Thomas Beretta at 8:03 in the second period. The Red Wings evened things up at 2-2 on a goal by Nathan Gomes at 16:28 in the third period.

Hamilton was unable to stop the Buzzers from sending pucks towards the net, and St. Michaels eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

The Buzzers were helped by Noah Jordan, who had one goal. Jordan scored on the power play 3:16 into the second period to make the score 1-0 St. Michaels. St. Michaels earned a power play opportunity when Justin Whitwell was put in the box for slashing. Beretta provided the assist. St. Michaels also got points from Beretta, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for St. Michaels were Ted Hunt, Matt Pepler, and George Argiropoulos, who each chipped in one.

Poliziani also scored for Hamilton. More assists for Hamilton came via Bramwell, who had one.

The Buzzers' Argiropoulos stopped 28 shots out of the 30 that he faced. St. Michaels incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Mark Sinclair recorded 28 saves for the Red Wings. Hamilton incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Red Wings ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Brandon Kolaski was ejected from the game.
