Buffalo squeaks by Lindsay, 3-2

The Buffalo Jr. Sabres gutted out a close 3-2 win against the Lindsay Muskies.

Buffalo gained the winning advantage on a goal by Nico Gonzalez 12:11 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

The Jr. Sabres were led by Gonzalez, who grabbed one goal and one assist.

Buffalo managed to stay out of the box better than usual, tallying one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Jr. Sabres ended up below its season average of 15.0 penalty minutes per game. Buffalo forced Lindsay goalie Mathew Robson to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots.

Max Mikowski also scored for Buffalo. Other players who recorded assists for Buffalo were Michael Ederer, Ryan Kuhn, and Nick Smith, who contributed one a piece.

The Jr. Sabres were unable to stop the Muskies from sending pucks towards the net, and Lindsay eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

The Muskies were led by Peter Barral, who registered one goal and one assist. Barral scored 13:04 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Lindsay. Lindsay also got a goal from Joseph Vocino as well. In addition, Lindsay received assists from Vince Herlihey, who had one.

Buffalo's Joseph Pianta stopped 30 shots out of the 32 that he faced. The Jr. Sabres registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Mathew Robson made 39 saves for Lindsay on 42 shots. The Muskies incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
