Cobourg downs Mississauga, 3-0

Rylee McKinnon finished with one point to lead the Cobourg Cougars to a 3-0 victory over the Mississauga Chargers.

Cobourg was steadier on the defensive front than it has been for much of this season. The Cougars gives up 2.5 goals on average per game. Cobourg forced Mississauga goalie Alex Lepore to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots. The defensemen of the Cougars were also effective in the Chargers' zone, and came away with three goals.

Cobourg additionally got points from Jake Emilio, who also had one goal and one assist. Alex D Oliveira also scored for Cobourg. Other players who recorded assists for Cobourg were Landon Schiller, who had one and Connor Armour, who had three.

Mississauga could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Chargers average 2.9 goals per game. Mississauga could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

Mathieu Ouellet recorded 22 saves for Cobourg. The Cougars incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Chargers' Lepore stopped 32 shots out of the 35 that he faced. Mississauga registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
