Cope leads Wellington over Pickering, 6-2

Trevor Cope had two goals and three assists to lead the Wellington Dukes to a 6-2 victory over the Pickering Panthers.

Cope found the back of the net 12:39 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wellington and again while 16:56 into the first to make the score 2-0 Wellington.

Wellington's offense rang up 61 shots on Pickering's net.

Wellington additionally got points from Erick Delaurentis, who also finished with one goal and three assists and Steven Deeg, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Wellington also got a goal from Andrew Coupland as well. In addition, Wellington received assists from Trevor Abbot, who had three and Joe McKeown and Austin Broadhurst, who contributed one a piece.

The Panthers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Dukes were unable to stop Pickering from sending pucks towards the net, and the Panthers eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

Pickering was helped by Nicholas Lepone, who racked up one goal. Lepone scored 5:35 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Wellington. Riley Devine provided the assist. Michael Walker also scored for Pickering. Other players who recorded assists for Pickering were Tanner Shaw and Robert Cammalleri, who each chipped in one.

Wellington's Adam Wood stopped 29 shots out of the 31 that he faced. The Dukes incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Steven Dombrosky made 55 saves for the Panthers on 61 shots. Pickering incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
