Barral lifts Lindsay over Stouffville, 6-1

The Lindsay Muskies relied on the scoring touch of Peter Barral, who netted two goals, to beat the Stouffville Spirit, 6-1.

Barral scored on the power play at 12:26 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Lindsay and again while 15:23 into the second to make the score 3-1 Lindsay.

Lindsay was led by goalie Mathew Robson, who finished with 44 saves while allowing one goal. Robson certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.31 entering the contest.

The Muskies' penalty kill excelled, as Lindsay gave up zero goals despite allowing nine power plays.

The Muskies stifled Stouffville's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Lindsay kept the Spirit's goalie busy throughout the game, and Daniel Mannella made 34 saves on 40 shots. The Muskies found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, Lindsay averages 3.5 goals per contest. The Muskies' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Lindsay finished with 38 penalty minutes.

Lindsay additionally got points from Jake Ryan, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Joseph Vocino, who also registered one goal and one assist. Stefan Von Egelbrechten also scored for Lindsay. In addition, Lindsay received assists from Austin Eastman, who had two, Vince Herlihey, who had three, and Austin Brown and Brandon Washer, who each chipped in one.

Stouffville was held below its usual level of production. The Spirit put an average of 3.4 pucks into the net per game. The Muskies were unable to stop Stouffville from sending pucks towards the net, and the Spirit eventually piled up 45 shots on goal. Stouffville's penalty kill was ineffective, and let in two goals to Lindsay's power play unit.

The Spirit were led by Carter Cummings, who scored the team's only goal. Cummings scored 2:47 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Stouffville. Connor Miller picked up the assist.

Stouffville incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
