Stouffville's comeback falls short, Toronto Lakeshore wins 7-5Stouffville Arena Thu, Oct 24, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Toronto Lakeshore Patriots came close to giving away a three-goal lead to the Stouffville Spirit, but did just enough to escape with a 7-5 victory. Toronto Lakeshore led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Patriots' Nathan Feric's scored at 15:42 in the second period to put Toronto Lakeshore up 5-2. The Patriots was paced on offense by Kevin Shier and Feric, who combined for six points. Shier grabbed one goal and two assists and Feric also notched two goals and one assist. Toronto Lakeshore forced Stouffville goalie Tim Bester to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots. The Patriots surpassed their usual scoring output this season. This season, Toronto Lakeshore averages 4.2 goals per contest. The Patriots could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game. Toronto Lakeshore also got points from Jack OHara, who also registered one goal and one assist and Feric, who also racked up two goals and one assist. Toronto Lakeshore also got a goal from Luke Carter as well. More assists for Toronto Lakeshore came via Andreas Tsogkas and Rory Bell, who each chipped in one and Niko Kovachis and Michael Prapavessis, who contributed two a piece. The Spirit made Toronto Lakeshore's goaltenders to work between the pipes, ripping 33 shots and forcing 28 saves. Mark Manolescu made six stops and Jeremy Helvig made 22. Stouffville was led by Chad Burrows, who had two goals. Burrows scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 7:56 into the second period to make the score 2-2. The Spirit had gained a power play chance when Cory Laver was whistled for interference. Michael Carcone assisted on the tally. Burrows' next tally on the power play made the score 5-5 with 14:15 left in the third period. Carcone provided the assist. Stouffville additionally got points from Tyson Bruce, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Michael Morgan also scored for Stouffville. In addition, Stouffville received assists from Robert Powers, who had two and Christopher Brill-Morgan, Matthew Dunlop, Peyton Backus, and Michael Stevens, who each chipped in one. The Patriots registered one goal on two power play opportunities. Bester rejected 33 shots on goal for Stouffville. The Spirit incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
