Burlington blows out Milton, 5-2Milton Memorial Arena Thu, Oct 24, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Milton Icehawks had trouble finding ways to stop the Burlington Cougars, which beat Icehawks, 5-2. Viktor Mueller had a great game for Burlington, netting two goals. Mueller found the back of the net 4:23 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Burlington and again while 19:00 into the first to make the score 3-0 Burlington. The Cougars made Milton's goaltenders to work between the pipes, getting 39 shots and forcing 34 saves. Ben Blacker made 13 stops and Tyler Lewis made 21. Burlington outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, the Cougars average 2.9 goals per contest. Burlington also got points from Steven Mueller, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Burlington also got a goal from Neil Aird as well. Other players who recorded assists for Burlington were Curtis Colbary, Adam Burnett, and Tyler Lepore, who contributed one a piece and Jordan Brown, Ryan Wilkinson, and Daniel Campbell, who each chipped in two. The Icehawks' offense rang up 36 shots on Burlington's net. Milton was helped by Josh Pace, who had one goal. Pace scored on the power play 2:33 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Burlington. A slashing penalty on Campbell had put the Icehawks on the power play. Ryan Burns assisted on the tally. Cooper Richards also scored for Milton. In addition, Milton received assists from Kane Elliot, Jeremy Gottzmann, and Shane Bennett, who contributed one a piece. Morton Josh recorded 34 saves for the Cougars. Burlington incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. For the Cougars, Mueller was ejected from the game. Milton incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
