Matt Alvaro scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and the St. Michaels Buzzers held off the challenges of the North York Rangers in a tough 3-1 win.

The Buzzers were sparked by Alvaro, who racked up one goal.

St. Michaels forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up seven minors and one major for 19 minutes in penalty time. The Buzzers had been averaging 13.0 minutes in penalties per game. St. Michaels excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

St. Michaels also got a goal from Jake Evans as well. In addition, St. Michaels received assists from Ian Edmondson, David Italiano, Ashur Elliot, Joseph Berton, and Matt Pepler, who contributed one a piece.

North York did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Rangers average 3.1 goals per game.

North York was led by John Carpino, who scored the team's only goal. Carpino scored 13:06 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Valadao Adam picked up the assist.

George Argiropoulos rejected 24 shots on goal for the Buzzers. St. Michaels registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. For the Buzzers, Nick Iafrate was ejected from the game. The Rangers' Jason Pucciarelli stopped 24 shots out of the 26 that he faced. North York ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. The Rangers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Matthew Whittaker was ejected from the game.
